Over the last week I've had Finder crash maybe 10-15 times... at first thought I accidentally clicked into another window and that was why the Finder window disappeared... but no, it's been crashing.

I'm also having the Dock disappear as well (and no, I didn't change it to 'hide'). Sometimes just the bottom disappears, other times the top bar as well.

I used to think that Finder and Dock were the same program, so I would hit Command+SpaceBar and manually launch Finder and the Dock would come back... (but later found out they're separate programs, right?)

Anyway, can't find any hits on this via google or the search here, so HOW can I find out what is causing this? Should I just format the computer and re-install Ventura from USB stick? ...kinda want to see if this is an issue others have experienced, and just wait for the next macOS update to hopefully fix it (then have to reinstall everything once again...). I've been trying to peek into the Console logs... but those things seem to generate hundreds of lines every other second so totally lost with what to even look for...

Programs I have open usually (as I think one of them might be causing these system programs crash): Photoshop, Adobe Bridge, Chrome, Safari, Music, Notes, and VLC or Infuse media player.

i've got the m2pro mini, and no such issues. if you think an app might be the problem, reboot, and open each of those apps one-a-time, work a bit, see what happens. also, make sure everything is up-to-date (like vlc, etc)....

I'm on my second 2023 mini (had SO many problems... like 15+ documented cases with Apple... see some of my other topics here lol, I returned the first), and the problem still persists. Think it's Adobe Bridge 2022 (like many others I do NOT use 2023 - it's a friggin ****-show) that's causing the crash... and Bridge is literally my most used program on the entire computer so don't know what recourse I have.... (and only using Finder so much because copying inside Bridge is SUPER slow... and 2023 Bridge is way, way, worse... and will crash itself on copying certain times...).

Oh, I've tried it immensely... to fail after fail after fail. Completely and utterly destroys my workflow of 18+ years now (and seems like I'm not alone... hundreds and hundreds of posts with issues with it - most about performance and crashes... mine is more how the program actually works workflow-wise).

For starters, like most creatives I have two monitors, right? And commonly have TWO instances of Bridge open - one on each monitor. I commonly have to do this to compare A > B edits, or just have visual thumbnails so I can move/copy/trim/edit photos in two locations to make one final version for a client. You can NOT do that in 2023 (unlike all the previous versions). You can technically fly-out a second thumbnails panel, but it's a thumbnails panel ONLY - it's missing the folder tree on the left, so you can't really browse at will anymore...

The other thing which drives me crazy, is I have folders within folders within folders (as any properly organized designer has). Before I could double-click on a folder on the left Folders panel and it would automatically expand and I could see what's in it. I literally do this like 500+ times a day... so instead of being able to click anywhere on the ENTIRE folder name, I have to click this (made even smaller font size in 2023 it seems) super small ">" icon, and on that icon only. Sounds like a small, stupid, nit-picky complaint, right? Oh, but it's not. Literally makes me lose massive time when this is something I do ALL the time, and I'm now loosing about 10,000% less surface area to click on, slowly sucking away my productivity quotient.

Oh, and you can barely even copy files in Adobe Bridge 2023 - like 10 times slower and commonly crashes. Tried 2x silicone macs so far to the same effect....

i know nothing about bridge, but i'd contact adobe and/or apple if i were you, should not be that problematic.

and no issues on either M2 mac here copying files.... 🤔

Lol... sorry to laugh, but I've been doing that since 1997 on probably a hundred or so issues... many of which STILL persist like 8+ macOS's later, same for Adobe releases. The squeaky wheel has NEVER gotten the grease in my experience with Apple and Adobe... (just see some of my other posts here... for example Mac can't even make HDR work properly on non-Apple external monitors... and that's persisted since friggin Catalina!!! ...I've been the Adobe account manager for a Fortune 100 company with a crapton of users and they STILL don't listen to all our issues).
