I've done almost exactly what you're suggesting (I used a Scosche Passport adapter) and while it does indeed power the Bluetooth receiver and allow me to pair to my iPhone or iPad, the Bluetooth audio stream gets interrupted every four or five seconds.

So, you get music for 5 seconds, silence for 1-2 seconds, music for 5 seconds, silence for 1-2 seconds, ad infinitum.

I've seen this behavior on a radio with an iPod dock and with the iPod dock in my car, but I don't have a solution for it.

I see, thanks for that. I'm tossing up should I buy this $10 voltage adapter or buy the 30Pin to lightning adapter that costs $45AUD from Apple.

Take a chance with something that "might" work or..... Hmmmm

List out the pros and cons. BT works for many but some don't care for the audio quality. You need to make the call based on your needs/wants/preferences/etc.
