Now and again, when I quit an app, where the arrow was, one pixel stays at the top. Example here (next to X11):

Someone please explain why!??

No, no theme hack, just changed icons.
Oh and it did happen before I changed them as well.

I saw that occasionally under 10.3, but it went away in 10.4. It's just a minor cosmetic bug, and though it'd be nice if those didn't exist, not much you can do about it other than re-launching and re-quitting that app, or restarting the Dock.

Thanks Makosuke, glad to know that I'm not the only one! However they do go away if you increase the dock size, but was wondering whether I could stop it.

Oh well . . looks like tiger is going to be on the list soon.

Just out of interest, is it related to whether you have the magnification effect turned on?
Well I don't have any magnification, and my dock is at it's smallest setting, with animation on. If that helps?!

Wow, I've heard of some crazy excuses for upgrading to Tiger, but that has got to be one of the craziest!
My pleasure :D
But honestly, there are a few other reaosns as well

I know, I know... I keep talking myself into and back out of Tiger. So far there's nothing really compelling to get me to upgrade, though. It'll probably be something like those dots that finally makes me do it.

Well at least I won't be the only one.
I'm just the same, at one minute I'm clicking on 'Buy Now', the next I'm thinking 'Why? They're only dots.'
