my dock is like this at the moment, what's up with this? it's a bit annoying for it to just change like this

I have the same problem right now as well! And strangely the stacks look pretty weird when I open them. In fan mode for example you only see some gray bars ... but no icons, no text.

I see the difference now, but I thought maybe you had customized like so. I've actually removed all the Dock files at one point so I could have something similar to ClearDock.
