Dock has dissapeared

My Mac Pro(10.7.2) crashed and took about 15 minutes to reboot...14 minutes longer than normal, and now my dock has disappeared. I've played around with the control panel settings and when it's set to display on the bottom of the screen I can see a faint outline, but instead of dock items, it just displays a mirror image of the desktop immediately above that area. This faint mirror image is not displayed when the dock is set on either the left or right of the screen.

Is there a way to uninstall /reinstall the dock? Any other ideas?

Holy shamwow I can't believe I'm such a noob. I always reboot before asking questions but for some reason I didnt, or thought I had already. Good thing I don't work on Macs/PCs for a living....oh wait, nevermind...
