Dock Hiding Problem

okay so my friend's iBook G4 is having an odd problem with the Dock. it was working fine and then all of a sudden wouldn't show up from 'hiding'

i tried recreating the dock preferences and repairing permissions and all that. no luck with either. a restart does fix it though, obviously temporarily.

tried all sorts of dock configurations and it just wouldn't pop up.

any ideas?

that was going to me my next try if no one came up with anything. using pacifist to re-install it. (just not sure where it goes... *wonders off in search*)
