dock in system log

speaking of leopards dock
what is this in my system log - during startup??

..macbook-pro Dock[87]: _DESCRegisterDockExtraClient failed 268435459

i'm new to mac
and just discovered the log
i was seeing if leopard startup might be slow do to a conflict

I wouldn't worry about it unless you're having a problem.

i don't think i have a problem

startup is about 1/3rd longer than Tiger was

but leopards performance seem's faster

I haven't noticed any slower boot times moving to Leopard.

i did a clean install of the leopard osx update

thought it was really fast at first

but i feel as if the boot time slowed down after installing my software

or possibly after bringing my files over from the external hard drive

perhaps spotlight is indexing or something
i saw some message appear from spottlight as files were moving in

i did everything manually
didn't use a cloning app or anything

That would probably be the best way to start in OS X.

The problem is Microsoft Office 2004, 99% sure.

I have been trying to track this down for ages.

This message happens after I installed them removed Microsoft Office 2004 on a brand-new Intel MBPro.

Other Console messages and Crash reports related to bus errors which happen in launchd while itis processing com.apple.Dock are 99.99999% certainly due to Office 2004 and its totally fubar'd installation processes.

I would be very glad to correspond directly about this --- cb0 at ME dot com
