For a while, I’ve had issues with my 16” MBP not wanting to display video on my external monitor when connected with a USB-C / TB3 dock. I’ve checked the HDMI cable to the monitor, the monitor itself, the dock itself (which was first a OWC TB3 dock, now is a Lention USB-C dock), and still have the same issues. At first, it would work fine in clamshell mode after a unplug and replug of the thunderbolt cable itself. Now, it refuses to output video (other than green lines / garbage) 9 times out of 10.

For reference, both docks work just fine (and the monitor itself) when connected to my iPad Pro 11”.

I’ve tried clean macOS installs, and it does this in my bootcamp environment as well. Any ideas of could be causing this? I’ve been trying all four ports on the MBP to make sure it’s not just one port causing the problem.

Have you tried another type of connector, other than HDMI? And connecting to another monitor or TV?

If you have warranty, it is probably best to just contact Apple. Seems like a hardware issue.
