Hi

I have been having a problem that whenever I install a new package or restart my Mac, my dock goes blank and I have to put the applications back in it manually. I went to the Apple Store and they said to reinstall Snow Leopard and I did that but it didn't make a difference.

It started happening my MacBook had a hard drive failure a few months ago and I had to get the HDD replaced. So not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Has anyone else had this problem or anyone got any ideas about it?

Thanks in advance

It could be corrupt plist file(s).
Find these two files
/com.apple.dock.db and com.apple.dock.plist
in this folder
HD/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences

Drag both files to the Desktop and Restart.
That will make new ones set to defaults.
Or, if you want to know which one is corrupt, do one at a time.
