Dock problem

My dock won't pop up when set to hide automatically. I have to make it come up by disabling automatic hiding with the key command. When up, the text labels don't show up above the icons. What is the problem? I'm running 10.4.10. No intensive apps running. It is like this all the time. I tried restarting.

random, but do you have a wireless mouse? my dock gets screwy sometimes when the USB dongle for my wireless mouse is plugged in...

I do, but I don't think it's related. It did not start when I started using the wireless mouse.

you might be surprised, my mouse only started screwing up my dock a couple months after I got it. Try unplugging the dongle and see if the problem persists.
