Hey people.

Something weird just happened with my Dual Gig MDD...It was asleep for two hours when I woke it back up, the dock went back to how it originally was.... it didn't have the apps I put in it and it put back the ones I originally took out...

Did it happen to any of you? Should I worry? I think I'll repair permissions.....

If you are running 10.2.4 I can tell you whats wrong.... 10.2.4 (You know, the update that was engineered by microsoft) :D

no, i'm not running 10.2.4 on my PowerMac. I'm still using 10.2.3. I decided to try it out on my iBook first before the main computer gets updated....

naw that update was engineered by Bill Gates himself...:p

This has happened to me before, and I know what is going on.

Do you guys remember the times in the classic OS's that you had to troubleshoot conflicting extensions and corrupted prefs files?

Well we all notice the extension conflicts are pretty much gone, but corrupted prefs can still happen. The thing about OS X is that if this happens, it will often just rewrite the preferences. It happens rarely now, but I have seen it before, it is basically normal.. but it is still a good excuse to run some diagnostics...

Oddly enough, this happened to me yesterday.

I was repairing permissions as root, 'cause Illustrator wouldn't open.

When I was done, I logged out of root, back into my user, and found my dock was 'factory fresh'.

Still confused as to why.....

I had just something like this. For some reason my language changed from dutch to english and all my mail prefs were gone. I didn't really noticed the change cause a lot of apps are already in english so I just thought: what's wrong here. figured it out after 2 days
