Dockless & Dock Dodger, apps showing to right of dock?

Hello all,

I am trying to hide a running app from the Dock. I have tried Dockless and DockDodger.

When I use these programs to hide my app it gets removed from the left of the dock, however when I minimise my app it shows up next to trash can on the right of the dock and is still visible.

Does anyone know why this might be? I really just want the app to be completely hidden and run in the background.

Try following these instructions. I've done it for the Messages app and the icon never touches the dock at all.
