My current HP Photosmart Premium AIO has a document scanner with automatic feeder and duplex capability but it sucks at that task: most often than not the sheets are not properly picked up and needed to be forced in the feeder - not good for batch scanning loads of documents. It is also pretty slow (but that would be OK if I had not to stand by the machine).
I've looked at the Fujitsu ix500 (and comparable Canon/Brother/HP document scanners) but I am hesitating considering the ~500$ price (and the need to find a place for another peripheral in my already crowded home office).
For that price (and even significantly less), there are a lot of "SOHO" inkjet AIOs. Any model that is apt at batch duplex scanning and has reasonable running costs? Printing would be mostly office documents, but it should be able to print the occasional photo. Direct scanning to Dropbox/Evernote/whatever... would be an asset.
