I’ve been having problems getting Documents by Readdle to make an SMB connection to my Windows 10 machines – I keep getting connections errors. I can make the same connections with other apps like FileBrowser and FileExplorer. I have tried name variations – smb://PCName & smb://ip_address – and username variations – email login and explicit Windows user ID – all without success. I have tried by adding a new location and by selecting a PC from the “Nearby” listing. I can connect to my NAS through Readdle without a problem. Any ideas?

I got an answer over on Reddit. Last year, SMB 1 was disabled in Windows 10, considered a security risk. I enabled it:

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off > check the box for "SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support"

Now it connects. Readdle needs to update to the newer protocol.
