As the title says, I am curious if macOS automatically disables trim for 3rd party ssds when the OS gets an update. I repaired a 2014 MacBook Air for a friend of mine recently and put in a new ssd. I ran the sudo trimforce command to enable trim on the drive. I can’t help but wonder though if it will be disabled when she updates macOS as updates are released. Thanks in advance for giving this thread a look. I’ve scoured the web but haven’t found much info on this particular question.

I don't think so. I haven't observed that anyway.

Trimforce is just a policy override. It disables a block which prevents the OS from sending TRIM commands to unapproved (i.e. non-Apple) disks.
