whenever I recieve a text it slows my whole phone down and if I pull the notification shade down to see the text it takes a few seconds for the text to pop up. does 6.1 fix this?

and yes I posted this in the new features/improvements thread but it went unnoticed

Never seen this issue unless your device memory is low, is your device jail broken.

im curious too if 6.1 fixes this.

try sending your phone a few imessages in a row from your computer on Messages in OS X while flipping between pages, the phone stops sliding between pages and sort of freezes to think for a couple seconds.

Does it on mine. I remember other iPhone 5's having this as well. I've seen it on a few posts in Apple Support too but had to do a bit of google searching.

And the fact that OP is having the problem on different hardware -- 4S (and presumably not before then, on iOS 5.x) means it's probably an iOS 6.0/maybe 6.0.1 bug. Haven't tried iOS 6.0.1 myself because I'm still waiting for jailbreak.

Have an iPhone 5, that was setup as new and restored via iTunes. This problem is terrible. I hope iOS 6.1 fixes this. iOS 6 is a step backwards in my opinion. iOS 5 didn't have as many bugs and problems.

Yeah this is why I refuse to update my iPad 3 to iOS6 in addition to it being jailbroken.

5.1.1 on 4S so stable and great even with my modest jailbreak tweaks.

5.0.1 I remember being a little spotty I think on battery life in particular otherwise it was a solid build. But 4.0/4.0.1 had its own intolerable quirks: dang proximity sensor didn't function as it should until 4.1 and before that it was non-stop face dialing for any call over a minute or so.

I think it's safe to say x.0/x.0.1 versions need work whereas x.1 and > are for the long haul.

just to clarify, I am on 6.0.1. it has been doing it since 6.0

My gut somehow told me 6.0.1 wouldn't address it :/

Honestly. I envy you right now. I'd suggest keeping it at 5.1 until 6.0 is actually stable. Trust me, you don't want to go through all this freezing and what not.

I have an iphone 5 on 6.0 now.

Just was stating what I used to have earlier this year :(

tried sending these on my dad's iPhone 5, didnt have the problem.

Just did a hard reset on mine and rapid fired some iMessages from my computer, it didn't do the hiccup freeze this time.

Not to say it wont surface again, especially with reports of it happening on other iOS 6 devices that ARENT the iPhone5 (my hardware), but a hard reset is at least a temporary fix for me.

I have this problem too... i'm using 4s running on iOS 6.0.1. not only text messages slow down the phone, anything that pops up on notification slows the phone.

I have it, but a mild case of it. I have all of my SMS messages since 2009 on the phone (4S), and there is a slight lag when the notification is coming up.

Notifications in general seem a little dodgy with 6.0/6.0.1. You'll hear the notification between 500ms/1s before the notification appears on screen, almost a slight delay.
