While you always have to be cautious with rumors, it seems a certainty that at some point in 2023 Apple will rollout a 15.2" MacBook Air. Whether it's in the spring or later, does this affect your purchase decision on the recently announced M2 MacBook Air?

And also, with that in mind, what do you think the 15" MacBook Air will start at for price, and what configuration do you think it'll have?

Here's my guess:

15.2" Liquid Retina display
M2 with 10-core graphics standard
8GB RAM
512GB SSD
35-watt dual USB-C charger
$1,799

Obviously, it'd be nice if the starting price was lower. Perhaps $1,699 is more realistic. Either way, Apple being Apple, it'd probably slot in around that price. And more importantly, it'll probably be at least $800 less expensive than the 16" MacBook Pro.

I would buy the 15” MacBook Air on release day. But that doesn’t affect my curiosity for the upcoming 13.6” model. I’m comfortable buying and selling my computers every few months and I don’t believe in waiting for the perfect one. By the time the 15” MBA materializes, there will be rumors about the next great thing already….

13" is perfect for me. I also have a iMac for desktop so I don't need a bigger screen portable computer.

lol I hope it'd come at 1400 because that would already translate to 1700€ ..and I'd need to add 230€ for the ram

if it comes at 1600/1700...that would put it at 2000€ ...which is kinda a lot for a 8gb machine .

Im not sure if the price is right or too low. Also no way the base model comes with 512 GB SSD, 256 is more realistic.

After thinking about this, I'm hoping it's more like selecting an iPad Pro. So you could conceivably buy a 15" MacBook for $1,399 or thereabouts — 8 core GPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.

My primary interest in the 13.6" MBA is portability. So for me, even if both were available immediately I think I'd still stick with the 13.6" because I want the lightest/smallest laptop that's gonna get the job done. Unless there was some other difference beyond screen size maybe.

With the new euro vs $ conversion rate and price increase on M2, Apple priced themselves out of my reach. I wouldn't be able to afford (well, justify) the M1 I'm typing on. I would jump at a 15.2" Air… but I'd have to win the lottery first.

Same. I want slim and light. I’m so happy I can now get so much power in such a small form factor.

My 15” 2011 MacBook Pro seemed so slim and light at the time but now it feels so bulky. My first laptop, a 2004 Compaq, (that I still used on occasion just a couple of years ago) feels like a suitcase.

It’s become easier and easier to switch machines when wanted/needed, and especially easy to sell a machine with little drama via Swappa. Personally, I would buy and enjoy the new Air if in the market, then flip it if a 15” really did come to fruition. If you wait and the 15” never shows up you’re left empty-handed.
