Does a 1TB MBP TB use more energy than a 256/512?

I got two different MBP configs, base model for both except one was 256 and one is 1TB. The 256GB model ran ice cold. Fans never turned on. The 1TB model runs cool most of the time, except above the keyboard where it is warm. The fan is constantly running (albeit very low and quiet).

Would a 1TB storage option consumer that much more power and heat up that much more, or is something else going on. The 1TB is a refurb.

Don't think there should be any difference. Are you sure you're running the same software the same way?
