I am curious if a Macbook Pro, equipped with a solid state drive in place of the HDD, takes on the instant on/resume (and other) behaviors that the Air is so noted for?

Since there is no 15" Air, I'm looking at a MBP and considering the SSD option

There is no Instant-on Function, its just Apples term for how fast the SSD is as resuming from sleep. Any SSD laptop has that behavior.

You can get cheaper and faster SSD's from online, Apple has a HUGE markup on them
