Just wondering if when you order an [upgrade] device via iUP and choose T-Mobile, does it require a T-Mobile SIM to activate on arrival or does it ship out without a SIM and without any sort of requirement like that? (Verizon generally has required an active account in the past, but I was debating switching carriers.)

Mine shipped out with a T-Mobile SIM. However, I just popped the SIM out of my X, inserted it into my Xs, and then restored from back up. I kept the SIM it came with in case I need it down the line for some reason.

I did the same. Just kept the sim it came with as a spare.
