I am trying to send pix from my iPhone 6 Plus to my X and have airdrop enabled on both but nothing happens. Nothing pops up saying that one sees the other to tap and send the pix. What am I doing wrong?

Works fine for me. I have been able to transfer from my ipx to my ipad and to my mac.

Just AirDropped a pic from my X to iPad Air.

Select picture > Action Button > You should see your other iPhone > Tap iPhone 6

i have the same problem. I was trying to send pics from my 7plus to the X but it would not show up even if I selected air drop - everyone. It seems the 2 posters above airdropped from X to ipads. I wonder if it has anything to do with the 7plus being my phone that was transferred to the X. I am able to airdrop to my wifes 8.

Settings > General AirdDrop > Contacts or Everyone

edit: nvm, I missed that you tried that

Tried iPhone X to my old 6 Plus and it didn’t work.

Yeah, looks like it has something to do with the phones both being registered to you or being a transfer/backup of the other. Maybe its a problem if both phones have the same name, such as "Mke23e's iphone".

Yeah, my old 6S+ isn't showing up, the new X is definitely renamed, it was restored from the 6 backup, so must be something about unique ID that's not present in two phones sharing some config value passed over via backup.

However, AirDrop works from my X to my wife's 7 and my 15" MBP.

Apple chat support says it might be that my iPhone 6 Plus is on iOS 9 (even though its a feature of iOS 9) and might be a compatibility issues. Can others confirm this?

Oh yeah, just to clarify, my 6S+ is on 11.1, same as my X. Let me find my daughters 6S, it's on 11.x, but that would at least show a 6 series working with the X (in case there's any suspicion of like a hardware incompatibility).

Sucks for me. On to plan b

Transferred from a 6S+ to my X. Just had the set both phones to receive from everyone.

Edit: 6S+ was on 10.3.3
Were both phones registered to your iCloud? That might be my problem. I tried to airdrop from my old 7 to my current X, and it wouldn’t show up, even though it was set to “everyone.”

Not a hardware issue. An iOS compatibility issue in regards to me being on iOS 9

No, different iCloud.
I FINALLY figured it out! We have to remove our old iPhone from the devices under our Apple ID. To do this on your new phone go to settings>Apple ID>click on your old phone at the bottom>then click "remove from account". Now my airdrop works between my iPhone X and macbook! Amen
