Does any one else get rather extreme hiss on the mini?

I have a standard JVc stereo jack to phono cable coming out of the back of the mac mini 1.66ghz, 1GBram, into a Samson c-control monitor unit with balanced inputs.

Does anyone else get similar problems? Got solutions?

Silly Question but are you using cheep audio cables, i had this issue with a different device when i changed to a more expensive better quality cable the problem vanished!

i wouldnt call them cheap no.. probably about 12 quids worth.. I think i have found the source of my problem by process of elimination, guess i just didnt think of it before hand!! dooh dooh.. I have an external soundcard-Mbox 2, and its not exactly the best grounded unit in the world ever-probably because its powered by USB and not AC..
