for the same damn Message

Is this a bug or a feature??

Nowadays with Apple, I can't tell what's a bug, what's a feature

Your phone really wants you to know you got a text.

But as others have pointed out, you can calm it down a little.

This is a feature that's been a thing for several years lol.

You can disable it in settings > notifications > messages >repeated alerts.

Its one of the first setting I disabled when I got my first iPhone back in 2010. So annoying and never understood why its enabled by default.
I'd imagine so people know it's an option. Having to explore settings to find the switch to turn it off also probably introduces people to some other settings they never knew existed. I think it's smart; they're not a trillion dollar company for nothin.

:) At my office it’s even (unofficially) forbidden to have that option turned on ;-) Use it and you’re fried (read: fired) *smile*

It's mind boggling to me that they enabled this by default. I could not turn it off fast enough when we were able to.

It was more useful, back before notifications were quite so ubiquitous (especially across multiple devices) and getting a text/iMessage was actually a novelty. But as things have evolved, the need for repeat notifications has greatly diminished. I used to appreciate the reminder, now I have all notification sounds (and especially repeats) turned off.

I had mine turned on FOR work. If I got a page in the middle of the night, I wanted it to keep going until I woke up (which was still iffy that it even would wake me given how hard I sleep). Thankfully, I'm no longer on call in the evenings and weekends. Oddly however, I've never turned it off. And I'm good with that.

Some time ago I also never really understood why they had an option for repeated reminders (at least up to a certain point) for messages, but nothing for calls (as in missed calls).
