Anyone care to post rough timings for certain tasks?
opening messages (sms/mms inbox) takes about 2.5 secs. seems slower than the older software.
everything seems a bit sluggish.

I did feel 3.0 was slower until I did a clean install (vs. an install and then a restore from backup).

Now, 3.0 is running awesome. Much quicker to open mail, sms, safari. Battery life is greatly improved as well.

Try a clean install.

Sorry for the newb question but...

How do I do a clean install and restore all my phone #'s etc... What extactly is a clean install vs. just installing the new firmware?

Will all my apps/data be restored with a clean install?

A clean install is where you do NOT restore your phone after upgrading.

Instead, you manually set everything up again, like it was new.

So I installed 3.0 GM. I did not do a restore after that though. All my contacts, apps, and data were already still there!

I may have gone in manually and done some settings after that.

So... did I do a clean install???

Thanks!!

iPhone 3.0GM is actually amazingly fast on my restore... however when I jailbroke my iphone I got rid of some applications which are not there - (so like calc and notes arn't there as I hid them while doing a JB).
