¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hello everyone

I wish to move my 243 PDFs from the Books app to my Mac as I find Books much too basic and clunky in terms of UI and functionality.

I thought it would be as easy as dragging from Books into Finder, but that only moves a handful of the files, like 2-3. There is no way of exporting the files from Books and I also don't find the local storage folder on my Mac; I'm on Sequoia and apparently the Mobile Documents folder either doesn't exist or is deeply hidden so one can't access it.

It seems only PDFs which have been downloaded in the Books app can be dragged. Or so I thought. Dragging such files worked once or twice, so I clicked Download on each and every PDF and then tried dragging again, but I just get beachballs in Finder and have to relaunch it. Restarting the computer doesn't help either.

What am I missing here — is there no way to get PDFs from Books to into Finder? I tried on my phone to save the PDFs from Books to the Files app but the share button is greyed out.

Thanks a million in advance

philip

iMac 2020 with 64 GB RAM here on Sequoia.

I could drag and drop around 70 smaller PDF files (<10 MB) from Books to Finder, but more than that and the tries went "beach balls".

After a failed attempt I also had to (try to) quit Books which until then seemed responsive, then on quit it went non responsive and I had to do a force quit to be able to try again.

So force quit Books and Finder, then start again with dragging the files in smaller batches would be my recommendation. I wasn't able to get into the apps sandboxed container.

Thank you so much for helping me, I'm very grateful. Force quitting both apps and then retrying worked, yay. I had previously only force quite Finder, so perhaps that was it. Something kept being blocked which only a force quitting could resolve. Big guns are sometimes necessary haha.

Thanks again!
Philip
