I like the look of it and that it can be flipped around to boost height. The question I have is since it seems to be just compressed wood sheets in the end, how actually stable is it longer-term? A 27-28" monitor will sit on it.
 
Based on the Ikea stuff we have (a lot) I'd say it will be reliable for quite a while. Most, if not all, of their furniture is made of that kind of stuff.

However, have you considered am adjustable arm mount? I've had one of these for three years and will never go back:

I haven't and for a good reason in terms of this particular placement.
