Working from home for the near future, most of the time my MBP is connected to an external display/keyboard/mouse. I'd like to free up some space on my desk and was thinking about a rack or something I could install under my desk to hold the laptop when it's connected to the peripherals.

Does anyone else do something similar? Recommendations?

What about a vertical stand, you could put it upright behind your display? I bought something like this for mine, it worked pretty well while I used the laptop (my wife uses the laptop mostly these days so it's no longer on my desk)

You could fabricate something yourself with a few pieces of hardware and a board.

Of course, there are manufactured solutions like these:

The keyboard tray came to mind before I pressed the search button.

I would prefer to get it off my desk entirely, but this could be an option. Thank you.

something like this might work although I was concerned about ventilation. This with a mesh bottom would probably be ideal
