well since sc2 is coming out soon.. or later (who knows, its blizzard)

but i was wondering if its worth selling my gbp in order to get the 2.53gz w/ the 512mb of vram. i was thinking of doing live cashback or student developer to make the cost not hurt as much.

What is live cash back?

I am also interested in the difference between 256 and 512.

I have a 2.53 with 512 coming in, and I will benchmark a couple games at 1920x1200. My friend has a 2.4 with 256, and I'll try that one out as well.

Probably have results by next weekend.

The only thing that stinks is that one computer will have a 7200RPM drive / 4GB / 2.53 and the other will have 5400RPM / 2 GB / 2.4 so I don't know exactly how useful the test will be.

well.. the 512mb would definitely do alot better in a benchmark @ 1920x1200. The larger amount of VRam essentially helps performance at higher resolutions. The difference would be alot less at 1280x1024 or lower.

Additionally, a 2.53 has a 130 mhz advantage. If his 2.4 is a merom processor, you need to also consider that the penryn in your 2.53 is superior to that of the merom.
