Does anyone know a way to hide a virtual drive from the desktop on os x?

..I don't want to uncheck "cds, dvds, and ipods" under finder preferences > general because then nothing will show up..

I have StartupSoundPrefPane installed so it blocks the startup noise when the computer starts up.. it's a virtual drive on the desktop I want to hide it and only that though
