Apple has to allow everything, based on how pissed the judge was. She said that “Cook chose poorly!”

I love it when someone quotes “The Last Crusade”.
I was going to post "who cares" but I know there are many Fortnite fans and I loved their Infinity Blade series - and also love "The Last Crusade" and making Apple open up a bit.

Agree. Apple is learning their level of arrogance will no longer work in the world. That level of arrogance also costs them money and reputation. As I recall, referrals were going to be made to the DOJ (maybe not), and if the DOJ burns a few upper management then Apple will eventually lose their closed environment. Apple should be very, very careful about future greed that comes from having a closed system.

As of yesterday, Epic had not yet submitted it for review, but they are still planning to do so "soon". How long it will take Apple to approve (or rather they even will) isn't something that Epic can dictate. We'll see.

I've been wondering if Epic will make the Mac version available again and haven't seen any reporting on that. (Unlike the iOS/iPad version which rely on App Store approval, they could have kept the Mac version available this whole time.)

That's a good point. The Epic Games store app has been available for the Mac during this whole blackout. I wonder why they didn't have it available.

I think it was more to "make a point" than anything technical. (Not saying whether it was actually an effective way to do it or not...)

Not sure how much they care about macOS even for the Epic Games store app. It has some persistent issues, one of the biggest is I think it will always run games that are compiled as "universal apps" in Intel (Rosetta) mode rather than native mode on Apple Silicon systems.

On the Mac, Fortnite is (was) distributed through the Epic Games client, not through the App Store.

Their web site is still listing this title as Windows only.

I can't find Fortnite in the iOS App Store, either... I suspect it has not actually been published yet. I can't read the "article", it just pulls up a broken/junk page when I click on it.

[Edit]
Nope. That’s not what that article says. Did you actually read it??
Err, that's exactly what it says.
Got the article pulled up, it does not say anything about it being live "now", just that Tim Sweeney says that it "will be available" with a note that it has been submitted for review. (Tim Sweeney also works for Epic, not Apple, and doesn't have any say in the app review process.)

It looks like you didn't...

The article says they've submitted it to the App Store. It hasn't been approved yet, if at all. Searching the App Store for Fortnite doesn't find it yet either.
Thank you! What a rude response that was for a post I made trying to help.

Just because an app is submitted to App Review doesn't mean that Apple is going to approve it. We're certainly hoping that will be the case.

What does this mean? "Fortnite is back on the App Store, Epic Rewards boosted to 20%, and more! Fortnite returns on the iOS app store..." You can argue that the site got it wrong, but you can't say that these aren't the words they chose.

That's not opinion. It's just counting.

Wait, that's just a story about how it was submitted to App Store review on May 9. It looks like it hasn't been approved yet.

You're the one who clearly didn't read it? Let's quote the article:

Epic confirmed the news with a post on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
We’ve submitted Fortnite to Apple for review so we can launch on the App Store in the U.S.
— Fortnite (@Fortnite) May 9, 2025
(Exactly what @MisterSavage said that they said, and you said that they didn't.)

Fortnite returns to the iOS App Store in the U.S. next week (exact date of Apple approval, but likely between May 10–15)
(Indicating that it is not actually on the App Store yet.)

Not sure why you feel the need to continue to double down.

Looks like you didn’t read it.

It seems like we’re all talking past each other and quoting different sources, at cross-purposes.

The reason I started this thread was to figure out when Fortnite was coming out and to keep track of the latest news and updates, not to fight with anyone, much less you guys.

If things have gotten out of hand and ugly for anyone, then I do apologize for my part in that.

Patience padawan, Fortnite will porbably come back soon enough. Hopefully to the Mac as well.

Epic spinning things a bit differently than Apple. Apple apparently asked them to submit the update again but exclude the U.S. storefront, and they are not responsible for Fortnite being "offline" or unavailable to download outside of the U.S.; this appears to be because of Epic's "stubbornness" to not release an update that doesn't include the U.S. storefront.

From a quick glance, it is not clear to me if a specific reason has been given by Apple to Epic for the U.S. storefront to be not allowed, but it looks like Apple is not planning to allow Fortnite on the App Store in the U.S. at this time. And indeed... nothing in the court rulings specifically compels them to do so.

More drawn-out legal drama likely incoming.

Funny just as a lark, I looked for it. I live in Geneva, Switzerland so not in the EU. Not on the app store, and when I tried to get it from the Epic store it didn't work either.
