I have an M1 Air and had been using an older notebook plus a 2020 iMac 27". Now I think the M1 Air will suit all my needs. When I have it connected to my Dell U2717 (2560x1440), sitting next to my iMac, it makes me ill to look at it. No where close in display clarity and color. Is it partially the reflective display that makes it "pop"? Is it the white level I can't duplicate on the Dell?

Apple no longer wants me to connect the air to the iMac display, and with their idea of a nice monitor being $6K, I am looking for a monitor that comes close to a 27" iMac display in quality of text and color. I would prefer a 32". Is there anything out there? I am willing to spend $600-800, maybe more if there is a standout one.

Resolution or budget. Pick one.

Dell and LG make (made?) very nice retina-like 24" 4K monitors, but if you want a 27-30" with 5K retina-like clarity then a 5K iMac or an LG 5K UltraFine are about the only two options.

On the other hand if color is a bigger problem than clarity then I've heard good things about ViewSonic and BenQ.

Dell 4k monitors are very good, just make sure you buy an Ultrasharp, not the QS crap

The best price I found on the U2720Q was at Office Depot, that's where I bought mine.

You're not going to find a good 32" monitor in the $600-800 range, just different graduations of crap.
