State of Denial
So I have roughly 2300 songs by countless artists on my iphone.

Lately I have been using it more and more for listening to music and have begun to notice that the shuffle on this thing blows.I either hear the same songs over and over or music from a handful of artists.

I don't rate my music, in iTunes or on the phone so I'm not sure what algorithm the phone uses to randomize the music.

Thoughts anyone?

Shuffle use the software RNG, that as you may already know in computer system its not really that random, the more you use it the less random you will find it

Create a smart playlist that is limited to "x" GB, tracks, etc, selected randomly.

It works better than shuffle.

Add a rule to exclude tracks played in the last 'x' number of days, and each time a song is played, it will be replaced by a new one in the playlist.

Be sure to enable live updating for this to work.

It used to work on the device itself, but iOS 4 broke it.

Your playlist will update itself when you sync though.

Hopefully the next update will restore the full functionality.
