I was using FaceTime earlier on my early 2015 macbook pro and realized the camera is so disappointing. One would think it would produce good video, but it's dark and washed out. My iPhone 6s is actually better for FaceTime because it transmits better video. I realize I can buy external cameras for a much better result, but we should get 1080p by now.

Does anyone here use external cameras? Which one?

720p seems decent enough for the camera, since the sole reason for the camera is for facetime calls, yet, the iMac itself has a better camera. I think since the iMac does, we can expect apple to upgrade the MBP.

How is the camera better on the iMac?

I have a Logitech c920. I don't use FaceTime much, but it looks great on Skype and other services like blue jeans. It is 1080 on Skype. Mic is better than laptop, but not as good as other external microphones.
