I'm considering getting one, simply because my photo library is functionally too large for my Mac.
 
I'm sure the X5 will work very well, if you wish to spend the extra money it costs.

But... I'll reckon a Samsung t5 will do almost just as well, for considerably less.

What Mac do you have?
The X5 requires a thunderbolt3 port, won't work with the tbolt3-to-tbolt2 adapter on earlier Macs.

Quite. I keep my Lightroom libraries on a similar TEKQ 1TB T3 SSD and it’s super fast but TBH I used to have it on a Samsung T5 1TB and that was fine too. Scratch drive is the internal SSD.
