I never thought about it, as the internal speakers always sounded good enough to me. And that any external speakers wouldn't be worth it for me.

But I was on vacation checking out an Apple store and they had the Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 hooked up to an Air, and it just sounded amazing.

I use the soundfreaq sound platform connected to my MacBook through Bluetooth. It's really a great solution for my room since I can connect just about anything to it. It sounds amazing too!

i do ;)

but i went for a different route:

internal speakers and an "TwelveSouth BassJump 2" attached to the MBA,...
... amazing and super portable!!!!

if at home and listening to music, i stream to our entertainment system via an airport express or atv2

do yourself a favour and give that BassJump a try,... in my opinion its well worth it!!!

Your internal speakers will never be able to compete with externals, but when you don't have externals available, Boom will give your internal speakers a boost. Of course, I still prefer using my stereo speakers via AirTunes.

I use Soundsticks from Harman Kardon, not the latest ones, but the ones before that,.. they have a great sound.

On the road I use a AiAiAi TM-1 headset.
