Does Aperture take videos from cameras?

I'm in the process of importing my entire iPhoto Library (About 100gb) into Aperture to give it a shot. First thing I've noticed is that video clips from iPhones etc have a generic video icon and cannot be played. Is this only because Aperture is in the process of 'Processing' or is this a limitation of Aperture? It won't even let me drag and copy to the desktop.

Any ideas?
