Does apple 17" studio CRT display have a film?

By film I mean on the outside of the glass. The reason I ask is I notice splotches on the glass like something is coming off. It started when I first clean the finger prints off and now it is getting worse. I don't have a camera to take a photo right now but the splotches look brighter when the monitor is on like the surrounding glass has a film on it.
