Does Apple Airplay stream iTunes content fro iMac to receiver?

Pardon me for this newbie question but I have a new iMac with over 600 cds in iTunes and I want to play them on my home theater speakers in another room.If I buy a Yamaha receiver with Airplay capability and put it on same network as my iMac will I be able to stream directly from the iMac iTunes to the receiver without the need of an Airport express?

According to the specs at the Yamaha site, yes, this will work.

Apple has an iOS app (iTunes Remote) which can control the music selection from an iPhone\iPad. It even allows you to select which Airplay devices to direct the output to, and control volume on Airplay devices.
