I like my old bands (braided solo loops). Wish I didn't have to buy a new one to get a series 9.

Beyond just the extra cost, it's wasteful.

Does Apple allow you to buy just the naked watch in the store?

No. I, too, wish they'd have an option to just buy watch without band. Luckily for my desire to not build up a band collection, the solo loop bands, as comfortable as they are, all eventually break. Since the last 2 bands I got were solo bands, which both broke, I only have 2 extra bands sitting in my drawer unused -- the original Sports band that came with my S0, and the Nike Sports band that came with the S2. ;p

Where is best place to do that?

I can't say, it would depend significantly where you live. Best bet is to google "local internet buy sell" or "local online selling" or similar. Where I live we have kijiji and Craigslist. eBay is available pretty much Internationally. My preference is local face to face selling so it's specific to region.

Apple watches have been out since 2015, the connection mechanism has not changed whatsoever in all that time, so there is no excuse not to sell the body on it's own as standard. I bet most will be existing owners upgrading so they already have a watch band or more than likely many, so just sell the body at a cheaper price. If your a new owner then just pick a band as an extra accessory, simple.

I thought Apple loved the environment after all that preaching they are doing, body only would mean a significantly smaller package and not waste resources making more bands than they need, otherwise your going to have perfectly good watches sitting there gathering dust because it has a band no one wants.

I totally agree this is wasteful. How many solar panels do they need to ruin a landscape with to make up for the carbon footprint of a watchband that will just sit in a drawer?
Apple only use the environment argument when it suits them. We all know half the features on the new watch would run on the older models and it’s just software gated. Hardly good for the environment but great for business!

On topic I would be happy if they just gave you the option to buy a regular non-ultra strap with it instead of forcing you to buy an ultra style strap.

I wish the pacific blue magnetic band was available to order.

Had to order the sport loop because Apple does not have any blue magnetic loops to pre-order....

What country are you in? They seem to be available to order in the US.

US.

I could only find the evergreen magnetic band available.

So I pre-ordered it with blue sport loop band.

Hoping by launch day, the blue magnetic band will be available to swap and pay the difference.

weird. When I pick the magnetic band, it says "order now, available Sept 22" no matter which color I pick. In fact, I can't find a band that says something different.

Really weird!

Where are you located ?

I am in So Calif and from yesterday till today, can not order with blue magnetic band.

Keep getting the grayed out continue button instead of Order Now.

I just tried to order that watch/band combo and get the same result, picking another band will let me "put in bag", so the band you chose seems to be the culprit ...

Yes, only the evergreen magnetic band works.

I don't want evergreen - I want blue.

Guess I'll have to wait till launch day and hope the blue magnetic shows up.

And pay the extra $50 which I will gladly do but the Apple Chat left me soured because the rep said if the blue magnetic does not show up within 14 days of launch day, I am out of luck !

What poor customer service of Apple for their shortcomings...

so if you can wait til after launch, I'd suggest going into a store ...
I've seen this in prior years where certain bands had limited availability, eg last year with the Ultra, I wanted the yellow band and it was still available the day after the website opened for the Ultra but others were sold out quickly

Ok, I finally figured out where the "add to bag" button is, and you are right it's greyed out if you pick the magnetic link. In fact, it's now greyed out for all colors!

I agree with the other poster that you should try checking availability once the watch shows up in stores. The last few years, I've given up on pre-ordering iPhones and watches and just keep checking availability for Apple Store pickup until the configuration I want pops up. I don't get the thing on launch day, but I usually manage to snag one during the first week.

I mean if you want to buy the watch with the new pink sport loop, I'll buy just the sport loop off you for $20. No matter where you sell it, though, you won't get full retail. No reason to buy it from you for $49 when they could get it from Apple with a return period and warranty.

I'm loving a ton of the new bands, but waiting to buy them secondhand to see how many people dump them on eBay and the likes when they decide to try to get a small rebate on their new toys.
