Does the apple smarts cover "slide" when closed? I notice in videos and whatnot that it doesn't close completely solid or tightly so to speak. So I was wondering if this meant that the sleeve inadvertently wakes the iPad?

Any insight into this would be great. Thanks.

I have never seen it. It will wake on a notification that may go away (hide to the notification area) and make it look like it woke for no reason.

It has alternating magnets along the edge to keep it aligned and shut. I can hold the iPad upside down and shake without it even coming off or unlocking.

Smart cover and iPad 2 had some movement especially if you shove it into a bag. Not sure if they've fixed this with the ipad3.

This is precisely what I'm worried about. Because if it causes inadvertent wakes, won't that eat up battery life while it's in the bag with the screen on?

The iPad still shuts off on it's own after a minute. I have no issues with mine in a bag.

As noted, it can inadvertently turn on when stowed in a bag if the smart cover is being rubbed against fabric or books or whatever hard enough to slide it across the screen. Even with 15 magnets, its not that hard to move it. If it were, you'd never get the damn cover open for your own use!

I have noticed that mine does turn on with the smallest of movement.

I have the black leather Smart Cover

These responses trouble me... :T

I don't believe a perfect sleeve or case will ever exist. Alas.

mine does it just carrying it around. maybe i have a weak smart cover?

Mine does this too.

I'm actually thinking I will just disable the auto-wake feature. Kind of more hassle than it's worth. Plus, I like seeing my lock screen photo (of my baby girl!), and I never get to see that with the autowake.

Looks like I'm not the only one with this problem.. I might just refund the smart cover and use a screen protector instead..
