Carrier Does Apple Still Only Allow Pre Orders on Major Carriers

I usually pre order my iPhone but am thinking of changing from Tmobile to one of these cheaper carriers like Boost or Mint.

Does Apple still require you you have service at T-mobile/ Att or Verizon?

Yep, I've done that for a few years. Unlocked always. Will never buy thru or from or connected to a carrier.

Correct that changed few years ago and you can get factory unlocked right on launch day and was even available to pre-order on pre-ordering day.

For many many years I have bought unlocked iPhones at launch , even the days that I queued at the store. I’ve never ordered through a carrier at launch.
