Sorry if this has already been discussed. I found a few threads searching but the answer didn’t seem definitive (or there were just 1-2 responses).

I’ve preordered from Apple for several years but for the life of me I can’t remember - does Apple require signature confirmation for iPhone preorders? I am traveling on Friday so trying to figure out if I need to get the neighbor to grab them or if they’ll just try again Saturday/Monday.

Depends on the area you live in.
UPS drivers know where packages can be left safely.
If not, they will require a signature.

My house is behind security gates so every year the driver just drops if off the front door.

Never had an issue.

Sign up for a UPS My Choice account and put a hold on the delivery so they deliver on Saturday when you're home. It's free.

Ca United States here. Ups has never once had me or asked me to sign for a iPhone release.

It doesn't depend on locale, nor value, nor carrier; it depends on that carrier's schedule (my opinion).
I bought an Apple Studio computer, and an ASD, at the same time. The AS arrived on my doorstep, and I didn't know about it (I was home) until I got the email notification. The ASD arrived with a door-knock, and I had to sign for it, a couple days later (same carrier, iirc).
If you're worried go for the advice from @iStorm, above.
