Does Apple Verify Student Purchases in Hong Kong?

Hey guys! So I'm looking to buy a MBP 13inch Retina MGX82 which cost
11488 HKD$. I will be shifting to hong kong next year for further studies. The current computer that I was using has completely crashed so I desperately need a new one. In Hong Kong currently there is the back to school offer and the price for the MGX82 in this offer is 10688 HKD$ + you get a 800$ gift card. I'm currently not a student of HK until next year and have no proof. I have family that resides in HK so I was thinking is it possible for them to purchase this laptop in the education discount offer? Does apple verify student discount purchases? If so what is the penalty? Can I order it online through the education section or will apple ask for verification?

PS( I'm not trying to con apple, I am a student and am going to a uni in HK next year but I need a laptop this year so please guys if you could help me and suggest a way to get through the edu discount as the savings would make a lot of difference in my tuition fee)

The biggest penalty is that they will cancel your order...

I ordered from Apple (UK) and they did not ask for verification, but I am 100% eligible.

Yes but to be fair I am a student studying in high school but apple only offers education discount to university students in Hong Kong so technically I am eligible too but not eligible at the same time!

Did you purchase it from the online store or from the physical store?
And
Did you receive your back to school gift card?

Online store, and I received the gift card.
 
You could try it. Cancel the order if they ask for verify and just order again.
 
Don't worry, I actually bought a MBP15" with my uncle's educational discount (teacher) at Hong Kong apple store. During my previous visit, the staff at the store actually asked me if my friends/family can enjoy the discount and suggested me to come with them/order online to enjoy the discount.

Yes, but the thing is I don't have an uncle who is a teacher or anyone who is a faculty member of an educational institute nor do I have proof to show that I'm a local student.

So if I order online for the back to school offer will it go through with success? What if I try ordering by the phone, how do they verify if you're a student or not at such times? I'm guessing the physical store is out of the question as you need evidence like a student id or something right?

I know, I was quite surprised they let me use the campus discount (when I was off campus) with no questions. Order went through and was delivered the very next day, less than 24 hours after I ordered it.

What was the link you used?

I used the link with the number suffix of my actual University, except I was off campus so it could be accessed by anyone.

The UniDays promotion is open to any student that verifies through Unidays which I have found includes Sixth Form (Ages 16-18) and could possibly include any school. Either way, I thought their link was accessible by anyone as well. Perhaps because I am registered with Unidays, I'm given a browser cookie so Apple automatically lets me access it?

Just looked at the HK Edu store, wow that is cheap.

I just went to www.apple.com/uk and found my way to the edu section
Could you please provide me the link you used?

Although I'm trying to purchase this from Hong Kong and was wondering if you need verification in hong kong.
