Does the AT&T data throttling in excess of 3GB apply to the iPad too even when you purchase the more expensive $50 Plan? It doesn't seem to make sense to offer plans higher than 3GB even it will get throttled despite you paying the premium for additional data. If someone can clarify, that would be great. I have a Verizon 16 on order because of the hotspot capability guaranteed, but was thinking about AT&T simply because GSM has more coverage and speeds in areas where 4G is not available. If AT&T throttles anyways past 3GB, then I probably will just stick with what I have now.

Throttling only applies to the grandfathered unlimited iPhone plans.

Correct. On the 3GB and 5GB plans, if you go over you get charged a fixed $10 per GB and you aren't supposed to be throttled. As I understand you could use 10GB a month full speed and you would be charged $100.
