They dont do it that well. I preordered last year because I had a bunch of gift cards for them. But it took a couple weeks after the product release date to get the phone. And yes you should preorder if you expect to get the phone sooner than later

I preordered the iPhone 4 when it announced at Best Buy. I had the phone in hand on launch date before the Apple Store even opened. But that was 2 years ago, things may have changed since then.
