Does Bootcamp affect Mac OS installation?

I have 10.7.2 and I want to install Winodws to play iRacing and rFactor.

Is the Mac OS going to be affected in terms of performance?

Shouldn't be. As the operating systems are completely independent they shouldn't be affecting each other. The only thing where you have to compromise is disk space of course.
