DOES change background pic every 5 min = HDD never sleep?

as title said.
i assume osx puts hdd to sleep after 30ish minutes, but if it needs to read a pic every 5 min, does this means the disk will spin forever?

No, it should be perfectly capable of keeping those pictures in RAM, unless you're using very large images and are short on RAM. That shouldn't affect disk spindown, certainly less so than any other type of activity on the computer.
