Does faces and location in iPhoto transfer/export?

With the new photo app I started importing my parents old sd cards and adding the faces and gps data.

Before I go crazy with doing this to thousands of photos.....

Does this data get transferred to the iCloud and or can it be transferred to my sisters mac?

don't want to go through all this if it is only good for one computer and can't be shared.

That metadata doesn't transfer to either iCloud or another iPhoto library. I've been through the same frustration. I don't know if it's any better with the new Photos app.

I did get some location data transferred through photo stream.

I guess its not worth considering this an archive solution. It doesn't seem worth taking hundreds of picture if those tags can't be transferred to another mac.

I was hoping it was similar to tagging mp3 files.

Location sticks with the photos on iCloud but I don't remember them sticking when i copied the photos to another computer, though I could be wrong. But faces definitely don't.

Thanks, you just saved me hours and hours of work.

Its definitely not worth doing it, if I am new computer away from loosing all that work.
