I use terminal and Spotlight all the time but sometimes
I came across situations like this :

Say that I had a folder opened with thousands of files using
dozens of different formats (.cpp, .f90, .xml, etc).
If I want a file with a specific format within this folder
there is not use of typing, let's say, *.cpp in the "Search" field
because Finder will give me all sort of matching hits inside my hard drive.

Is there a way to use a kind of keyword into the Search field to only look
for files inside the folder you already are ?

Thanks !

The Search text box in the upper right hand does in folder searching. You can also pick what folder you want to search in as well.

Yeah just use the Find option from the folder you're in. Go to the folder and hit Cmd-F. Or customize your windows to have the search box in all windows.
