Before my iPhone would last 2 days(about 48+ hours) but lately i've downloaded 20 apps and it barely lasts 20 hours.
(This is with wifi off and a very dim screen[about 25%])

Why is this?

hmm well we can't really tell how often do you flash through the pages on your screen or how often do you turn on the apps. Doing those will certainly drain your life

i didn't use any apps. my phone was on standby the whole school day and it dropped down to 55%(in a little over 6 hours) where as usually its still around 83%.

Simply installing the apps should have ZERO impact on your battery life.

The bigger question is what type of apps have you installed (do they use Push?) and do you find yourself using them very often.

Those two things alone will have an impact on your battery life.

The other question is have you been getting a lot of email lately.
Downloading emails, even in the background, will eat away at your battery life too.

inkvaders, flick fishing, color splash, DDR S, Pocket God. I didn't use my phone at all at school and it lose pretty much 50%. I only got maybe 8 emails while i was at school.

Maybe that's not the issue. Did you do anything else at the same time as you innstalled those apps? Update to 3.1 or 3.1.2 for example?

More apps usually means more device use per day.

But you could fully recalibrate the battery gauge, then reboot the phone, and see if that makes a diff.

man 83% in standby mode? thats bad.

Since launch, i can charge my 3GS fully before bed, leave it on my nightstand at 100%. wake up, still at 100%. unlock, check weather, and it goes down to 99%. thats after about 9 hours of standby.

3G on, wifi off, location services on, BT off, push not working, but on (i use gmail)

I have 80 apps on my iphone 3Gs. Yesterday, I had it charged at 100% and after five hours, without any use whatever, it dropped down to 97%. I don't find that the number of apps I have afects battery life, unless I use them.

You do know you can set up GMail push on your iPhone now ... Right?
